BC Building Science was engaged to work with the Building Owner and their Architectural team to provide building envelope consulting services on this building transformation, which was initiated in significant part because of exterior wall and window failure.
At this 10-storey, cast-concrete apartment, the work completed included:
- Replacement of walls and windows with a new, continuous window-wall glazing system with a mix of metal cladding at concrete walls and columns;
- Adjustment of architectural elements, such as elimination of roof gables; and
- Waterproofing of all concrete balconies and surfaces, new guardrails, and other elements typical of a project of this magnitude.
