BC Building Science was retained by the Owners of Mariner Point as the Prime Consultant for a multi-targeted building envelope renovation at their building. This project at Mariner Point included two of their buildings – one six-storey and one seven-storey (both concrete) – constructed over a cast-in place concrete parking garage, located in Vancouver.
The Strata approached BCBS to help determine a strategy to address various issues at the 36 year old building. BCBS conducted a thorough assessment of the building’s envelope and determined that select repairs were crucial at areas that had been affected and damaged by water leakage; exterior wall painting and surface refurbishment, including sealant replacement / restoration, was required, as was window and door refurbishment and repair; and the balcony traffic membrane required renewal and levelling.
Through a process of consultation and various other methods, an architectural design strategy was developed and approved by the Strata. Throughout the course of the project, BCBS provided the following services:
