BUILDING ASSET AND ENVELOPE ENGINEER / TECHNOLOGIST
BC Building Science is looking for a qualified, experienced Building Asset and Envelope Engineer / Technologist to join our successful team. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills by working directly with one of our experienced professional engineers.
BC Building Science is a professional engineering firm, specializing in building envelope and energy efficient design for the residential and commercial construction industry in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Washington, and California. BC Building Science has had continued sustainable growth over the last 24 years, through delivering high-quality and creative engineering solutions to an outstanding group of successful clients.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- 5 years of experience in local construction methods and materials;
- a strong background and knowledge in the field of building science and construction principles;
- a diploma in building enclosure technology or a degree in engineering;
- excellent technical writing and oral communication skills;
- strong interpersonal skills and high attention to detail; and
- a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
We are seeking an intelligent, creative candidate to assist, and eventually lead, our established building asset management team. The position is mostly focused on post-construction services, including:
- conducting site visits to document existing building conditions;
- conducting meetings with clients;
- preparing warranty reviews of completed projects;
- providing capital asset depreciation reports;
- preparing detailed maintenance and renewal plans; and
- ensuring consistency between internal documents and industry or manufacturer maintenance expectations.

PASSIVE HOUSE CONSULTANT
BC Building Science is looking for a Passive House Consultant to join our successful team. The main role involves supportive energy modelling and building simulation services for new construction buildings.
BC Building Science is a professional engineering firm, specializing in building envelope and energy efficient design for the residential and commercial construction industry in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Washington, and California. BC Building Science has had continued sustainable growth over the last 23 years, through delivering high-quality and creative engineering solutions to an outstanding group of successful clients.
The successful candidate will:
- have a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) designation;
- have a diploma in technology or have a degree in engineering;
- be familiar with local construction methods and materials;
- be familiar with model software including IES VE, THERM, HOT2000;
- have a strong understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Envelope Systems;
- be skilled in technical writing and will have excellent communication skills – written and oral; and
- be an excellent team player as part of the energy efficiency team.
The main functions of the successful candidate are:
- performing energy modelling for single family homes, to high-rise residential towers, to commercial and institutional buildings;
- enhanced design and field review as well as technical report writing;
- building envelope / air tightness field testing and commissioning;
- thermal bridging and thermal performance analysis; and
- communication and ongoing construction correspondence with related parties including Developers, Contractors, and Architects.
