BC Building Science got involved in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup last Friday by spending an afternoon picking up garbage at Sapperton Landing – a park near our office that runs along the Fraser River.

BCBS volunteers at the UGM

Last Monday, BCBS volunteered at New Westminster’s branch of the Union Gospel Mission. We helped serve breakfast to around 120 members of the community, and had a good time chatting with everyone involved. It was an honour to give back to our community, and we hope to return!

BCBS Bowls for Big Brothers

BC Building Science was invited to participate in the Scotiabank Bowl for Big Brothers Classic this year, and had a great time bowling at the western-themed event last week. Together, the BCBS team raised $1, 230 to support the Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver in their mission to support child and youth development through essential volunteer-led mentoring programs. Shou Sugi Ban

Michael Aw of BCBS presented at BCBEC’s luncheon yesterday on the characteristics and aesthetics of charred wood as a cladding material. The presentation was a collaboration between Michael and two of his fellow BCIT students, and drew on the capstone research project that they completed together in their final year.
