BC Building Science was retained by the Owners of Boardwalk as the Prime Consultant for a targeted building envelope renovation at their building. Boardwalk consists of two 4-storey wood-framed residential buildings over one common below-grade parking garage. Located in Port Moody, this amenity rich complex boasts a stunning outdoor common area complete with gardens, an outdoor pool and hot tub, as well as tennis and basketball courts.
The Owners approached BCBS to determine a strategy to implement an exterior coating renewal and an overall maintenance program. Renovations included the resurfacing of the balcony membranes, cleaning of the building exteriors, staining of all exposed wood elements, painting of the Fibre-Cement-Board (FCB) siding elements, and general review and re-application of exterior sealants.
Through a process of consultation and various other methods, an architectural design strategy was developed and approved by the Owners. Throughout the course of the project, BCBS provided the following services:
