BC Building Science was retained by the Owners of Harwood Manor as the Building Envelope Engineer and Consultant for a comprehensive building envelope renovation at their building. Harwood Manor is a 6-storey concrete and steel-framed residential building supported by a cast-in-place reinforced concrete suspended slab, and is located at 1133 Harwood Street, Vancouver.
BCBS and the Strata Council developed an architectural design strategy to improve the function, durability and appeal of the building exterior. Through a process of consultation and various other methods, an Architectural design scheme was developed and approved by the Strata. The renovation included the full replacement of the existing stucco cladding, balconies, decks, suspended slab membrane, windows, doors, skylights, and canopies, as well as the resurfacing of the main roof membranes and landscape renovation.
