BC Building Science was retained as the Building Envelope Consultant for Pacific Sands Resort. Located at 1421 Pacific Rim Hwy in Tofino, Pacific Sands Resort is a pre-fabricated 3-storey steel-framed hotel building over a site built concrete foundation with site built timber walkways at the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Pacific Sands Resort has been an interesting project for BC Building Science due to the pre-fabricated construction approach and the unique location of the project – facing the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Some of the notable Building Envelope Features are the rainscreen fibre-cement panel cladding assembly, 2-ply SBS roof membrane assembly and the pre-fabricated building, foundation, roofing and walkways on-site.
Pacific Sands Resort is an all-suite beachfront resort 7km from Tofino. Located next to Cox beach on Vancouver Island, Pacific Sands is a gateway to one of the best surfing locations in Western Canada. Amenities include a beachside coffee bar, a Buzzy grill, an on-site grocery store and breakfast delivery service, plus a complimentary summertime kids’ club.
