BC Building Science was retained by the Directors of St. Bernadette School as the Prime Consultant for a targeted building envelope renovation at their building. Located in Surrey, St. Bernadette School is a one-storey wood-framed building that serves as the parish school at the St. Bernadette Church.
The Directors approached BCBS to help determine a strategy to address the renovation and restoration of the existing building envelope of the school building, with a focus on the cladding, windows, and doors. In addition, it was uncertain if structural seismic testing and upgrades would be required. The Directors requested that BCBS act as the Coordinating Registered Professional for all aspects of work, including overseeing any seismic work to be completed by others.
Through a process of consultation and various other methods, an architectural design strategy was developed and approved by the Directors. Throughout the course of the project, BCBS provided the following services:
