BC Building Science was retained by the Owners of The Rip Tide as the Building Envelope Consultant for a full building envelope renovation at their building. The Rip Tide is a 4-storey wood-framed residential building, located at 600 S State Street in Bellingham, Washington.
BCBS, Credo Construction Inc., and the Strata developed an architectural design strategy to improve the function, durability, and appeal of the building exterior. Through a process of consultation and various other methods, an Architectural design scheme was developed and approved by the Strata. The renovation included the replacement of the existing siding, windows, doors, utility penetrations, and trim members to ensure a suitable level of performance given the highly exposed marine environment of the building.
