BC Building Science was retained by the Owners of The Woodglen as the Building Envelope Consultant for a parking garage slab waterproofing membrane and landscape renewals project at their building. The Woodglen is a three-storey wood-framed residential apartment building constructed over a below-grade concrete parking garage. The building contains 51 residential units, and is located at 265 15th Avenue, Vancouver.
BCBS, the Strata, and a Landscape Architect (Prospect & Refuge) developed a new landscape design to improve the function, durability, and appeal of the property’s ground level. Through a process of consultation and various other methods, a landscape design scheme was developed and approved by the Strata. The renovation included the removal of all existing landscaping materials and waterproofing membranes above the parking garage; installation of a new two-ply SBS waterproofing membrane system onto the parking garage suspended slab; structural repairs to the garage ceiling where necessary; a combination of new patio paving stones, retaining walls, stairs, planting soil, plants, fencing, and related landscaping materials installed on top of a gravel drainage layer and drainage mat; and a new irrigation system throughout the new landscaped areas.
