BC Building Science is proud to be the building envelope and energy consultant for Vancouver’s second gateway building at 601 Beach Crescent. This building, along with its counterpart, Vancouver House, will function as a gateway to the city at the Granville Street Bridge. BCBS provided the basis of design for the building envelope and energy systems to achieve the stringent energy targets of the Vancouver Green Building Policy and Zero Emissions Building Plan. The building design demonstrates leadership in energy efficiency and sustainability by minimizing energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions. This design brings us closer to the goal of building carbon neutral buildings in British Columbia. The new building will contain nearly 22,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space on the ground level, as well as 455 new homes, including 303 condominiums and 152 social housing units.
