CONCRETE SLAB MAINTENANCE

November 8th, 2023

By: BC Building Science

Caring for a concrete slab, whether it be a small plot such as a patio or an expansive driveway, involves a clear plan for cleaning, sealing, and maintenance.  To keep your concrete looking its best, sweep it regularly, clean any new stains promptly with a mild detergent, seal it on a regular schedule, and repair any cracks or damage as they appear to prevent more trouble and expense down the line.  If certain aspects of the required maintenance plan are beyond a homeowner’s or Strata’s ability, be sure to engage a Contractor to perform any deep cleaning issues such as removing efflorescence and water stains in the concrete.  Crack injections can be used in any areas where active water ingress is present, and then actively monitor and review the concrete regularly to pinpoint any future issues.  Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to keeping your concrete both fully functional and pleasing to the eye!
