MECHANICAL ENGINEER
What we are looking for:
BC Building Science is looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy Modelling Team. The main role involves supportive energy modelling and audit services for new and existing buildings. The successful candidate will be supervised by a professional engineer.
What we expect from you:
- Minimum a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Registered / eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC. Having a P.Eng. designation is a bonus.
- Minimum one-year full-time experience with IES-VE or similar energy simulation software tools.
- Minimum one-year full-time field experience with building energy systems (energy audit / field review / commissioning).
- Full understanding of local building codes, construction methods / materials, and detailed drawings.
- Skilled in technical writing with excellent communication skills – written and oral.
- Excellent team player.
- Creative thinker with high attention to details.
What you are going to do:
- Execute energy modelling for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
- Perform energy audit and commissioning of building energy systems during design and construction / renovation phases.
- Prepare thermal bridging and thermal performance analysis.
- Communication and ongoing design and construction correspondence with related parties including Developers, Designers, Contractors, and Architects.
