KEEPING YOUR GUTTERS PRISTINE TODAY SAVES YOU DOLLARS TOMORROW!

Cleaning out your gutters may not strike you as a top of the list home maintenance task, but skipping this relatively easy job can quietly lead to expensive damage.  Gutters are designed to move rainwater away from your home and when they’re clogged, that system breaks down.  The bottom line is that water must go somewhere.

Here’s why proper gutter maintenance matters:

  • Prevents water damage
When gutters are blocked with leaves and debris, water overflows and can seep into your roof, walls, or foundation.  Over time, this can lead to rot, mold, and costly structural repairs.

  • Protects your foundation
Overflowing water can pool around the base of your home.  That can weaken the foundation, cause cracks, or even lead to basement flooding.

  • Avoids roof problems
Clogged gutters trap water on your roof which can cause shingles to deteriorate and increase the risk of leaks.

  • Stops pest infestations
Debris-filled gutters become an ideal home for insects, rodents, and birds.  In addition, standing water also attracts mosquitoes.

  • Prevents ice dams
Winter conditions can cause trapped water to freeze.  This creates ice dams that force water back under your shingles.

  • Preserves your home’s exterior
Overflowing water can stain siding, damage paint, and even kill the landscaping below.

  • Saves money long-term
Routine cleaning is simple and inexpensive compared to repairing water damage, mold, or foundation issues.

Your home greatly benefits from cleaning gutters at least twice a year—typically in the spring and fall, but if you have lots of nearby trees, you might need to do it more often.  Consider this occasional task a preventative measure that offers precious peace of mind!
