The Grant is a 4-storey wood-framed mixed-use building, with 33 residential units. Located in East Vancouver’s Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood, this unique building is a pleasing mix of studios, lofts, condos, and townhomes. This modern structure offers residents contemporary design blended with industrial brick accents and East Van heritage charm. The Grant boasts residences featuring custom-designed kitchens, air-conditioning, and triple-glazed windows that allow for an ultra-quiet environment that is energy efficient.
BCBS was an integral part of the team during the new construction of this development. Our expertise contributed to the successful completion of this exciting project through building envelope consulting services. This approach first included establishing the basis of design for the building envelope. During the construction phase, we performed ongoing field reviews and provided field testing of key envelope components as the testing agency. This approach first included establishing the basis of design for the building envelope and guiding the design for energy efficiency optimization through energy modelling. Envelope field testing included the necessary quality assurance field tests to ensure optimal functionality such as testing a sampling of windows and doors as well as conducting whole building airtightness testing to ensure compliance with energy efficiency targets.
