BC Building Science was retained by the Owners of Villa Dardanelles as the Prime Consultant for a full building envelope renovation at their building. Villa Dardanelles is a 3-storey wood-framed residential building constructed over a below-grade concrete parking garage. Located in White Rock, this eleven unit structure is ideal for the sea lovers among us as it is situated directly across from the Marine Drive beach.
The Owners approached BCBS to help determine a strategy to address the widespread failure and breakdown of all the major building envelope assemblies. The renovation included the full replacement of the existing stucco cladding, balconies, decks, suspended slab membrane, windows, and doors.
Through a process of consultation and various other methods, an architectural design strategy to improve the function, durability, and appeal of the building exterior was developed and approved by the Owners. Throughout the course of the project, BCBS provided the following services:
