SAFETY FIRST! CLEAN OUT YOUR DRYER VENTS

February 16th, 2023

By: BC Building Science

Dryer fires can cause extensive damage to a home, but almost all of them could have been prevented if the dryers had been properly maintained.  We all know that we should clean out the interior lint trap on a regular basis, but many are unaware that the dryer vent line that runs from the back of the dryer to the outside must also be cleaned out, ideally once a year.  If you’re a homeowner you can easily plan for this service to be performed annually, but if you’re new to a condominium with an ensuite laundry, be sure to check with your Strata to ensure that the building carries out this annual service as well.
