MECHANICAL ENGINEER

What we are seeking:

BC Building Science seeks a Junior to Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our successful team.  The main role involves commissioning of building systems during design and construction phases, energy audit / modelling, and condition assessment of building mechanical & electrical systems.  The successful candidate will be working with a team of mechanical engineers supervised by a professional engineer.

 

What we expect from you:

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum one-year of building design / construction experience focused on HVAC systems.
  • Field experience with building mechanical systems reviews (e.g. energy audit / field review / commissioning of HVAC).
  • Good understanding of local building codes, construction methods / materials, and detailed drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluent English – written and oral.

 

What you are going to do:

  • Review building drawings / specifications and coordinate project requirements with the design engineers and contractors from a commissioning perspective.
  • Review details of construction work by contractors and perform test & verification of building systems at the end of construction.
  • Perform energy audit, assess condition of building mechanical & electrical systems, develop energy models, and prepare technical reports.

Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000 annual
