Deck Maintenance Pays Off All Year Long

March 24th, 2023

By: BC Building Science

Often, an outside deck is your home’s small slice of the outdoors, a place to relax while enjoying a warm breeze and birdsong.  Keeping this area clean and maintained makes it not only more inviting, but safe as well.  Giving your deck a thorough sweep removes debris, especially after a long winter, and following up with a wet wash and cleaner will help to remove stains.  Mildew and mossy bits that may have formed can cause the surface of a deck to become slick, a potential slipping hazard, so removing any type of growth is essential.  Be sure to keep any deck drains free of leaves too so that water doesn’t back up onto the surface causing pooling and bacterial growth.  Regular maintenance will keep your deck in top form, a sanctuary you’ll enjoy calling home.
