The Tramex Moisture Scanner Is The Solution You Need!

October 19th, 2023

By: BC Building Science

Excess moisture in roofing and waterproofing systems can affect your building’s overall thermal performance, which leads to reduced energy efficiency and raised energy costs.  If left for prolonged periods, it can even eventually cause structural damage and system failure – not something you want to deal with!

The Tramex moisture scanner is the solution you need!  This is a non-destructive moisture scanner designed for detecting and evaluating moisture conditions for roofing and waterproofing systems.  It can be used for a variety of roofing assembly types and depths.

BC Building Science recommends that testing be carried out at all stages over the lifetime of a building’s roofing system including:

1.  During and following the initial installation.  It is not uncommon for brand new roofing membranes to become damaged due to sub-trade traffic on the roof.  We recommend a membrane integrity / moisture scan to ensure membranes have not been compromised.

2.  Regularly (ideally semi-annually) as part of an ongoing maintenance program to monitor the membrane health / condition and to prevent major repairs.  Moisture scans can reveal signs of water ingress before they are visible on the interior of the building.

3.  Prior to re-roofing projects to determine the extent of existing moisture and membrane damage to assist in determining the scope of the renewal (for example, estimated square footage of insulation to be replaced).

Our talented team of roofing consultants is ready to scan your roof!
