WHAT IS A FIELD TEST GAME CHANGER? THE BOSUN CHAIR!
Numerous types of tests are performed on buildings both during construction and at completion. A few of these include sealant thickness and pull tests, eyebrow polyurethane thickness and adhesion tests, paint thickness and adhesion tests, and targeted water tests. Normally these would be carried out fairly close to the ground or in an accessible location higher up, such as a balcony, but once the Bosun chair, or Bosun drop, enters the picture, the entire building’s exterior is open to testing via rope access. The apparatus itself is needed, of course, but a highly trained testing specialist who will dangle numerous storeys above the world below is essential. That person at BC Building Science is Al, a steady-handed expert who seemingly has no fear of heights. Thank you, Al, from all of us who like to keep our feet firmly on the ground!
