EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT – RAMIN HORTAMANI
Next up in this series, we’re presenting Ramin Hortamani, M.Sc.!
Ramin, I’d like to ask you a few questions to better get to know you…
Q: Did you have any hobbies as a child that you now know were engineering related?
A: I bought some electrical model kits such as a radio, car, and lighting that needed to be assembled and soldered. Then I modified them together because I thought the design would be better with the modification. I built a model that had hundreds of pieces, and it took me months to build, but I finally finished it.
Q: What specifically drew you to the area of building envelope?
A: Twelve years ago, I started my job as a HVAC / Plumbing Inspector Engineer and HVAC / Plumbing Contractor in my country, and because of the nature of my job, I was in the construction industry. Most of the time I was on the job sites, so this experience led me to building envelope.
Q: If a multi-talented chef arrived on your doorstep, what meal would you request?
A: Something healthy, spicy, and not fried.
Q: What personality trait do you think it takes to be a great building envelope specialist?
A: Good communication skills, ability to work to precise measurements, able to follow instructions carefully, and knowledge of building protection and cladding.
Q: What would be your preferred superpower and why?
A: Flying would be very helpful. Flying around the city and going places I wouldn’t normally go would be a great way to see the world from a different angle. And of course, I could visit my friends and relatives more often. I could also help people in need and save them.
I love the evocative image your extensive, months long model-project conjures up. I wish we had a photo!
Thank you, Ramin!
