COOL DRAFTS DRIFTING THROUGH YOUR HOME? BREAK OUT THE SEALANT!

December 6th, 2023

By: BC Building Science

It’s once again that time of year when temperatures are dropping and the amount of sunlight we receive has dwindled.  This combination often causes the interior of your home to feel a little icy, particularly after dark.  It’s quite possible that your unit’s windows and doors are allowing cool air to enter, so some easy sealant touch-ups may be in order.  Window and door sealants are specifically designed to seal gaps which will prevent both air and water from entering your space.  Not only will this help to keep the drafts out, it will also prevent moisture damage and increase energy efficiency.  In addition, if you notice split or debonded sealant on your building, be sure to let your strata council or property manager know. Regular maintenance and replacement will have you staying cozy and dry!
