What we are seeking:

BC Building Science seeks a Drafting Technician to join our team. The main role involves design and drafting services for building envelope aspects of renovation construction.

What we expect from you:

• Diploma or Certificate in architectural design or drafting technology.
• Intermediate experience using Microsoft programs and AutoCAD is required.
• Experience using SketchUp is an asset.
• Familiar with local construction methods, materials and building code / bylaw requirements.
• Knowledge of local construction detailing and integration of components and assemblies.
• Skilled in technical writing and have excellent communication skills – written and oral.
• Excellent organizational skills and team player.
• Creative thinker with high attention to detail.
• Knowledgeable and working experience in the design and detailing of building envelope components is an asset.
• Motivated to work independently with little supervision and able to take initiative to identify problems and complete tasks without requiring instructions.

What you are going to do:

• Preparation / development of drawings and specifications for building renovation projects.
• Assistance with development of architectural design concepts / renderings for existing buildings.
• Assist with building / development permit applications.
• Communication and correspondence with related parties including Authorities having Jurisdiction.
• Field review and assist with contract administration for building renovation projects.
• Multitask and work in different projects and scopes at the same time.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
