DRAFTING TECHNICIAN
What we are seeking:
BC Building Science seeks a Drafting Technician to join our team. The main role involves design and drafting services for building envelope aspects of renovation construction.
What we expect from you:
- Diploma or Certificate in architectural design or drafting technology.
- Intermediate experience using Microsoft programs and AutoCAD is required.
- Experience using SketchUp is an asset.
- Familiar with local construction methods, materials and building code / bylaw requirements.
- Knowledge of local construction detailing and integration of components and assemblies.
- Skilled in technical writing and have excellent communication skills – written and oral.
- Excellent organizational skills and team player.
- Creative thinker with high attention to detail.
- Knowledgeable and working experience in the design and detailing of building envelope components is an asset.
- Motivated to work independently with little supervision and able to take initiative to identify problems and complete tasks without requiring instructions.
What you are going to do:
- Preparation / development of drawings and specifications for building renovation projects.
- Assistance with development of architectural design concepts / renderings for existing buildings.
- Assist with building / development permit applications.
- Communication and correspondence with related parties including Authorities having Jurisdiction.
- Field review and assist with contract administration for building renovation projects.
- Multitask and work in different projects and scopes at the same time.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Salary range: $50,000 – $70,000 annual
